Civic Justice Corps June Service Project
06/30/2007
Serving up smiles at the Soup Kitchen
On Saturday, June 30, 2007 the HIS WAY Civic Justice Corps paired up with the Crisis Ministries Soup Kitchen for the CJC's June Service Project. Under the guidance of Ms. Wanda and the kitchen staff, each volunteer was given dish to prepare. In one corner, Jenn and Russell prepared the bread and fruit salad while in the other, Ashley, Mark, and Calvin helped to prepare dessert and keep the kitchen orderly. Around the chopping table, Becca prepared the salad as Joanna, Thomas, and Tracy washed and cut the greens. In what seemed like no time, the crew had created a hearty meal for our friends and neighbors to enjoy. The menu included: lasagna, vegetables, tossed salad, fruit salad, bread, and dessert and each volunteer dished out a heaping helping to everyone. The cafeteria was soon filled with happy faces and full bellies, a blessed day it was, indeed!
All food served in the Crisis Ministries Soup Kitchen is received by donations to the Food Rescue Program and prepared by community volunteers. To find out how to become a Soup Kitchen volunteer, please contact:
